Wallpaper removal is a scary process, as it can consume a lot of time if you are not doing it the right way. The thing is, it is a dreadful job and there is no way to make it appealing. Start With A Smaller Section It is not important to start with big chunks. You can simply start by peeling smaller sections from a subtle corner. Use a scraper to remove the small part and if you are lucky, then there won’t be too many layers to peel off. Type Of Wallpaper You must know the type of wallpaper used on your walls. If they are strippable then it will be way easier to remove it. If you can manage to remove smaller sections easily then you can move on to long sheets. Make sure to use proper techniques so that no adhesive residue is left. Try this and you’re bound to have the best end result. Make A Soft Paste It will be better to soak older and newer wallpapers with standard paste. This will help in easy removal of the wallpaper. Make a mixture of cellulose paste with warm water and liquid detergent. This glue will help in holding the water on the wall so that the sheet can observe it making it easier to remove. Apply this mixture on the wall and leave it for 5 minutes. Once the wallpaper has soaked in the mixture, you can start scraping the wall using a scrapper. You can even use a serrated scraper or dinner fork to score the sheet so that water can penetrate making it efficient for you to remove it. Use Chemicals
Using chemical stripper specifically designed for textured coating is another method to remove wallpapers. If you are opting to use this method then make sure that you wear protective gloves and goggles. In case, you are not comfortable with chemicals then you can use fabric softener. Take one cup of softener liquid and mix it with water. Sponge the solution on the wallpaper and leave it to soak for 15 minutes or more. Later you can start scraping the wall. If your wallpaper has a water-resistant coating, then you can use a wire-bristle brush to score it before using a softener solution.
